Between May 2024 and April 2025 Healthwatch Cornwall carried out 28 Enter and View visits to primary care practices across the county.

Through conversations, observation, and feedback, we’ve worked to support improvements in the quality, accessibility, and experience of local GP services.

What we did:

  • 🗣️ Spoke with 285 people, including 168 patients and 50 staff
  • 👁️ Observed service environments, signage, accessibility, and care processes
  • 📝 Gathered lived experiences and translated them into evidence-based recommendations shared with service providers

What changed as a result?

Many of our recommendations were acted upon by providers, leading to real improvements in patient experience. Changes already made include:

Updated signage with accessible fonts and improved visibility
Weekly hearing loop checks to ensure better support for people with hearing loss
Clearer communication around the cost of treatments and transitions to private care
Staggered appointment systems to reduce crowding and improve waiting room flow

Why it matters

Enter and View gives patients and staff a voice — and ensures their feedback leads to meaningful action. These visits help hold services to account, share good practice, and create more inclusive, person-centred care across Cornwall.
