Healthwatch Cornwall is delighted to congratulate Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) on being awarded £3.5 million from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to establish a Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) in Cornwall. This significant investment will transform healthcare research in the region, bringing cutting-edge clinical trials and innovative treatments to our communities.

Healthwatch Cornwall invites you to play an active role in shaping health and social care services in our county by joining one of our five Partnership Boards: Autism, Ageing Well, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Carers.

Since October, we’ve been gathering feedback from over 400 Cornwall residents to better understand the realities of mental health services in the County. This has helped us identify what’s working well, where challenges remain, and the positive initiatives making a difference in our communities.

We've launched Listening Hubs. Welcoming spaces for meaningful conversations that drive change in health and social care across Cornwall.

Join our new Mental Health Partnership Board and make a real impact on mental health services in our community

NHS services across Cornwall declared system critical incident on 3rd January 2025. NHS bosses made the decision following sustained pressure experienced by Cornwall’s main hospital and emergency department.

This was followed by University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust declaring a critical incident on 7th January due to significant and rising demand for hospital care.
