With pharmacy closures anticipated across Cornwall in the coming weeks, Healthwatch Cornwall is deeply concerned about the potential impact on residents’ access to essential services, especially as we approach the busy Christmas period. Pharmacies play a crucial role in our healthcare system, providing medication, advice, and support for minor health conditions, and their closures could pose significant challenges for communities across the county.

1 in 10 people who have contacted us this year have shared their experience of mental health services. Hearing these insights has proven to us that there it is a significant concern among Cornwall residents and that there is a lot of work to be done to improve access to and quality of care.

On 1st November 2024 Healthwatch Cornwall published released The Dental Crisis in Cornwall, an in-depth report highlighting the severe challenges Cornwall’s residents face when trying to access dental care.

Healthwatch Cornwall’s Dental Crisis Report, released today, reveals significant challenges Cornwall residents face in accessing essential dental care. Findings show long waits, lack of NHS dental availability, high private care costs, and the physical and mental toll these barriers have on individuals.
