Thousands of people across Cornwall work every day to support adults with care needs and we hear regularly about the pressures they face: housing costs, travel challenges, workload, digital change, recruitment issues and high levels of stress.

That’s why Healthwatch Cornwall is launching a new study to hear directly from the people who know the system best: the paid adult social care workforce.

From 1 October 2025, surgeries must allow patients to request appointments at any time during core hours (8am–6.30pm, Mon–Fri) by phone, in person or online. This was agreed between the government and British Medical Association (BMA) in April as part of negotiations for the GP contract 2025-26.
